====== Java removal ====== As part of Oracle's new licensing requirements, the University is removing the **Java software** from the vast majority of university workstations by **June 2021** to avoid incurring licensing fees. There are no centrally-supported applications that require a separate Java installation. Software like SPSS and SAS are bundled with Java, so they are exempt from organizational licensing fees. The only CPH IT-supported software with a Java requirement is **Doceri**. Doceri can also operate using an Oracle Java alternative, OpenJDK. We have transitioned all of our classrooms and conference room spaces to use **OpenJDK** for this purpose. If you are using Doceri on a university-provided workstation, please be sure to schedule a time with us to complete the transition from Oracle Java to OpenJDK. If you are using any other software, that you think may have a Java requirement, please contact us via email: [[mailto:cphithelp@temple.edu|cphithelp@temple.edu]] If there is no apparent need for Java on a workstation, it will automatically be removed for on-campus workstations and some off-campus workstations. We will also be including a Java-removal process in all of our remote support sessions going forward.
