====== Adding KPAP Forms as Assignments in Canvas ====== Please follow the steps in the video walkthrough or written guide below to add the KPAP informed consent as a Canvas assignment and require that students complete the form before accessing the rest of the course modules. For Backpacking & Camping (ACTV 1061), you will add both the informed consent and the 1061 waiver. ====Copying Course Content from Fall 2024 to Spring 2025==== If you are copying the course content from your fall 2024 course to your spring 2025 course, please be sure to click on the informed consent assignment after copying it into your spring 2025 Canvas course and re-enter your name in the instructor name box. Then click on the Save button. - Click on **Assignments** - Click on the **KPAP ACTV Informed Consent** - Enter your name in the **Instructor Name** box - Click **Save** - If teaching Backpacking and Camping, repeat these steps for the KPAP ACTV 1061 Waiver - If teaching multiple courses, please repeat this process in each Canvas course ==== Video Walkthrough ==== **Please be sure to use the Google Chrome browser.** [[https://temple.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=dd3ec8ac-eee2-4a12-b86c-b1b60111930a | Adding KPAP Forms as Canvas Assignments]] [[https://temple.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=19329de0-f5ec-4fbf-8fab-b1b60114ce79 | Demonstration of Student View]] ==== Part 1: Add the Assignment(s) ==== - Be sure to use the Google Chrome browser - Click on **Assignments** from the left side menu - Click **+ Assignment** - For Points, enter **1** - For Display Grade As, select **Complete/Incomplete** - Click on **Do Not Count Toward Final Grade** - Select **External Tool** as the submission type - Click on **Find** - From the list, scroll down and click on **Qualtrics** - Click on the drop-down menu and select **KPAP ACTV Informed Consent** - Enter in your name in the Instructor Name box - Click **Save** - Uncheck the box for "Load in a New Tab" - Scroll down and click **Save & Publish** - Backpacking & Camping only: repeat the steps above to add the second form, **KPAP ACTV 1061 Waiver**, to the course as an assignment ==== Part 2: Create an Informed Consent Module and Add the Assignment(s) to it ==== - Click on **Modules** from the left side navigation menu - Click on **+Module** - Provide a name for the Module such as “Informed Consent- Must Complete before Accessing Modules Below” - Click on **Add Module**. (Note that the new module will show up at the bottom of the page. Drag it back up or follow [[https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-move-or-reorder-a-module/ta-p/1150 | this Canvas guide]] to move it back to the top.) - Click on the plus sign for the module you just created - For the “Add” menu, select **Assignment** if not already selected - Select ACTV Informed Consent assignment and click **Add Item** - Publish the module - For Backpacking & Camping, repeat steps 5-7 to add the 1061 waiver to the module ==== Part 3: Add Module Requirements ==== - Click on the **three dots** to the right of the Informed Consent module - Click on **Edit** - Click **Add Requirement** - Make sure the informed consent assignment is selected in the first drop down menu - In the second drop-down menu, select **Submit the Assignment** - For Backpacking & Camping, repeat steps 3-6 to add the 1061 waiver as a requirement - Click on **Save** ==== Part 4: Add Informed Consent Module as a Prerequisite to All Other Modules in the Course ==== - Click on the **three dots** for the module - Click on **Edit** - Click on **Add Prerequisite** - From the drop-down menu, select the Informed Consent module - Click **Save** - Repeat this process for all modules in the course ==== Help ==== Please email **cphithelp@temple.edu** if you have any trouble.
