====== Adding Extra Credit in Canvas ====== Currently, Canvas does not have a default way to add extra credit. Below are two easy ways to add this yourself. ==== Add a Zero-Point Assignment ==== You can add a zero-point to a weighted assignment group to add extra credit. To do so, follow the steps below: - Click on the **plus sign** in a weighted group to create a new assignment in the group. **Important:** when using weighted groups to calculate total grades, the zero-point assignment must be added to one of the weighted groups in order for the extra credit points to compute correctly. - Provide a name such as **Extra Credit** and leave the point value as **zero** - Click **Save & Publish** - Now, in your gradebook, enter points for the zero-point assignment to give the student extra points. You can try this out with a test student. ==== Add Additional Points to a Student's Grade for an Assignment ==== Another method is to add points to a student's grade for an assignment, such as giving them a 25/20. If you add extra credit this way, it is recommended to add a comment in the feedback for the assignment that you added additional points for extra credit. ==== Video Walkthrough ==== For a walkthrough of these options, check out the video below.
