Getting Started Videos

The following is a set of videos providing a comprehensive guide to using 360 video in OrchestrateVR to create interactive 360 experiences.

Step-by-step Tutorials

Converting Camera Files in Insta360 Studio

1) First connect your camera to your computer to access files. To do so:

  1. Turn on your X3 camera.
  2. Swipe down to open the Shortcut menu. Tap the settings icon, then [USB Mode] > [U-Disk Mode].
  3. Connect your X3 camera to your PC via the official Charge Cable.
  4. Open the DCIM folder in file manager (Windows) or Finder (mac) to view the files.

2) Open Insta360 Studio and import your files. You can import as many as you’d like at one time.

3) Set your field of view. You can set this directly on the camera, but it is recommended to go through this step regardless to confirm your field of view is what you want it to be. There are slightly different steps for videos and pictures. To see a larger image of each of the screenshots below, click on the image and it will enlarge.

For videos:

1. Make sure your timeline scrubber is set to frame one. The scrubber is a vertical white line. To ensure it’s on frame one, it needs to be all the way to the left. This happens by default, so you probably won’t have to touch anything.
2. Click the “add keyframe” button, which is a circle with a plus sign inside of it. This is below the preview window with your video, towards the right.
3. A small window will pop on the left where you can choose your field of view. We recommend sticking with “dewarp” unless you need a wider field of view. If you need a wider field of view, try UltraWide or MegaView.

For pictures:

1. The field of view button will be directly on screen, on the righthand side. It will be labeled with an icon of whatever the current field of view is.
2. Click the icon to change your field of view

4) Select the file you wish to export on the lefthand side. It’ll turn yellow when selected.

5) Click the yellow export button on the bottom right of the screen.

6) An export popup window will appear. Make sure of the following. VERY IMPORTANT:

  1. Select "Export 360 Video/Picture” at the top
  2. Name your video/picture
  3. Select where you’re exporting the video/picture to
  4. For video: set bit-rate to “25”

7) Your video/picture will begin exporting. The left side of the screen will change to the “export” tab where you’ll find previous export history, as well as your current export progress on the bottom left. When your video/picture is done exporting, you’ll hear a “ding!”

8) If you have more videos/pictures to export, go to the “local files” tab in the top left and repeat these steps.

Adding Assets into Orchestrate VR

1) Sign in

2) Go to your “Content” tab on the right side of the screen. The icon for the "Content" tab looks like a series of boxes overlapping each other, or files in a filing cabinet.

3) Select “Assets”

4) While on the "assets" page, select the orange “create asset” button in the top right.

5) Import your files from Insta360 Studio to OrchestrateVR. You can either hit “choose file” or drag your file directly into the dotted box.

6) Once your file has finished uploading, you can either hit “upload asset” if that is the only file you need to upload, or you can hit “create and add another” if you have more files to upload.

7) After uploading your files and hitting “upload asset” you will be brought to a page that shows you information about your asset. There’s nothing you need to do here unless you want to add information to your asset, like tags or a description, or if you'd like to change the name of the asset. To make these changes, hit the pencil icon to edit.

8) You can leave this page by either clicking the home button in the top left, or clicking the “content” tab and going to either your assets or experiences, depending on what you need to do next.

9) To view all of your assets in one place, return to the “assets” page.
